Traveling Like Your Favorite Film Star

Entertainment is a byword for fashion trends. Around the world, imitating popular stars and copying their hairstyles, quirks or accessories have become a permanent fixture in modern-day lives.

Why do people strut around behaving like the cute boy or girl next door who they saw in the movies? A common explanation is the fame and glory that a major film star has. Others attribute it to a compulsive need for status or power.

But the catchiest aspect of the life of the entertainment glitterati is their cross-continental travel. The paparazzi follow their every move around the world.

Regardless of the reasons, if you want to travel like Brad Pitt, there are some do’s and dont’s –

1. Make sure you’ve got a budget that stretches a million miles. Otherwise you may just end up falling down the rabbit hole.

2. If you love night life and think you can dance like your favorite Hollywood star, research clubs from Nepal to New York. Then go there.

3. Vacations need time, space and privacy. If you don’t have the megabucks that your favorite star has, never mind. Love life, be happy so that you can enjoy vacations anywhere.

4. Hire the best transport. If you can afford a stretch limo, then by all means take it. If adventure sports are more up your alley, you can snorkel and scuba dive anywhere.

5. Etiquette and breeding matter anywhere. If you’re not a paragon of virtue, nobody else is. Make sure you understand and respect local customs and beliefs.

6. The environment matters. We have all seen and heard innumerable adverts and countless radio jingles. Make sure that you don’t litter or loiter.

7. Speak different languages. It helps you to break the ice and make friends easily.

8. Go the extra mile. Explore new places and new ideas. See destinations that are off the beaten track.

9. Incredibly, your favorite movie star may still be the humble man or woman he was born as. Keep your feet rooted. Don’t put on airs.

10. Respect your neighbor as much as you respect yourself. Your vacation will be smooth sailing all the way through.

Standard constraints for vacations apply. No matter who you consider as your role model, travel needs to be a balance between being extravagant and stingy. Go shopping with your friends, but don’t overspend. Binge drinking may be a fad, but ensure that you tread a cautious line.

Pack your traveling bags with essentials for any eventuality. You are not expected to pole dance, run around trees or fight global terrorism but be prepared for a life-altering and thrilling challenge.

In case you need help with the money, have a support group ready. Recent trends worldwide include specialised trips for everybody from the super-rich to the budget traveller. Going into space like Richard Branson maybe a pipe dream, but you can surely experience zero-gravity simulators in many cities around the world.

Ice clubs are the closest thing to the chill of the Arctic. And they are omnipresent from Mumbai to Miami. Visit the closest in your vicinity wherever you are around the globe.

Brainstorm. Discuss with your friends and family what you or they want. Then go ahead and implement ideas. Do not get stuck in a rut.

Patience is a prized and valuable trait. If some of your plans do not work out, wait, rethink and redo. There is always a silver lining.

Finally, if you don’t like trips to deserted islands or climbing the nearest Himalayan peak, don’t go. Enjoy your trip, most of your favorite movie stars are already doing it.

You are the new trendsetter!!

Fashion is ubiquitous. It draws inspiration from the most unexpected of sources.
If a woman in some remote area inspire you with her colorful and vibrant Lehnga Choli likewise a high profile urban working woman can instigate you to look chic with her stylish formal attire. Fashion lies in the eyes of the beholder provided he perceives it in an appropriate way and doesn’t land up making a spectacle.

There’s no technique, no hard and fast rule to be the trendsetter as well as be in your comfort zone at the same time. Just make sure you observe, experiment, mix and match and eventually carry it off with elan. Some trends that have gained popularity lately are,

Cartoon printed t-shirts:

This fad has become quite a rage amongst the youth. By now a majority have made it a point to go and grab one of them and include it in their wardrobe. They make you look youthful and wacky with that image of your favorite cartoon character garishly imprinted. You can team it up with your cool canvas shoes or with that supremely stylish jacket which is languishing in your cupboard since a long time now.

Skinny Jeans:

They don’t just accentuate your legs but also give you a hip look. High waist Bell bottoms and straight fits are a strict no-no. Combine your slim fits with a funky tee or a casual Indian kurta and you are all set to create an impression.

Cotton summer frocks:

A nice flowery print or a plain bright color with spaghetti straps or half sleeves is a must especially during summers. It is the quintessential summer attire which makes you look all feminine and pretty. Accessorizing it with motley of colorful wood bangles and a pair of shoes will give you the cool casual look.

A few things that would probably never go out of fashion are stilettos, tube tops, casual tee shirts, flat sleepers etc. You can always tune into the safe mode when you aren’t in a mood to experiment. Trial and error is not fun all the time perhaps!!
The bottom-line is to create your own fashion individuality without making a caricature.
